How to automate LinkedIn carousel post creation
save hours, but keep the quality high, so you can win in LinkedIn.
Hey there!
I've just cracked the code on something that's been eating up way too much of my time (and probably yours too). You know how those LinkedIn carousel posts absolutely crush it with engagement (especially the ones that have original images - not AI-generated ones - on them)?
Well, creating them manually takes forever.
So I built this automation that basically runs on autopilot.
I just add some info into Airtable, paste the screenshots for each slide and boom - the system creates complete carousel posts like "5 Best AI Automation Tools in 2025" or "5 Reasons Claude AI Beats ChatGPT for Marketers." (you might have seen these on my Linkedin already).
Airtable + Make.com + Placid.app
The whole system uses Airtable as the trigger.
I set up a status field where I just select "Generate draft" and it kicks off the entire workflow.
Airtable's automation sends a webhook to Make.com, which then runs through about 20 different modules (looks complicated, but most of these modules are just doing repetitive tasks - extracting the right text for the right place on the image template).
The core tools I'm using:
Make.com for the automation workflow
Airtable for data management and triggers
Open Router for AI text generation (way better than juggling multiple API keys)
Placid.app for image template creation
PDF.co to combine everything into LinkedIn's required PDF format
Get the blueprint and connect your accounts
First, you'll need to join AI Marketing Masters - that's my private community where I share all these automation blueprints and Airtable templates. You can't get this stuff anywhere else.
Once you're in, download the Make.com blueprint and copy the Airtable base template.
For the tools, here's what you're looking at cost-wise:
Make.com: $10/month (free tier works initially)
Airtable: $24/month (need paid plan for automations)
Open Router: $10 credit upload (lasts a while)
Placid.app: $19/month for 500 image credits
PDF.co: Free
Set up your 3 image templates in Placid
This is where Placid.app shines. I just created three templates:
Title slide - just one dynamic text element
Body slide - title, body text, and image placeholder
Closing slide - call-to-action text (I keep my social links static)
You can just copy what I did or create your own design. I added my headshot, set the dimensions, and made sure the dynamic elements are properly tagged.
The workflow in action
Here's how you create the new carousel in Airtable:
Add the main topic to Airtable (don’t overthink it AI rewrites it anyway)
Add any special instructions (like "include a CTA to my home page")
List out 5 steps/tools/tips with quick descriptions (again, don’t overthink, AI will rewrite the texts and make them fit the template)
Upload screenshots for each step (super quick with Command+Control+Shift+4 on Mac)
Set status to "Generate draft"
Wait 2-3 minutes while it processes and then uploads the image files back to Airtable
The system creates 7 images total - intro slide, 5 body slides, and closing slide.
Then it combines everything into a PDF and generates several LinkedIn post text options using Claude Sonnet 4.
What you still need to do manually
This isn't 100% automated (and that's intentional for quality control). You still need to:
Come up with good topics
Define your 5 steps/tools/tips
Add relevant screenshots or images
Choose your favorite AI-generated post text and make minor edits to it before publishing
The manual work takes maybe 4 minutes versus the 2+ hours it used to take creating everything from scratch.
The results speak for themselves
My carousel posts consistently get 3-5x more engagement than regular posts.
This automation handles all the tedious formatting, text generation, and image creation. I just focus on the strategy and input quality.
If you're creating LinkedIn content regularly, this system pays for itself in the first week. The time savings alone are worth it, plus your content actually looks professional instead of thrown together.
P.S. I spent weeks fine-tuning all the AI prompts inside this automation so the output actually sounds human.
